IL Knox County Sheriff, SP, FE. This shoulder patch measures 3 3/4"W X 4 3/4"H and is fully embroidered on black. Patch has gold and white lettering and a gold border. Patch shows the Wolf Covered Bridge on it and states that in white lettering also. The county is named for Henry Knox, a soldier in the American Revolution. This bridge was originally a wooden deck. In 1874 the covering was added. The bridge was a showpiece for Knox County and is on the National Register. On August 1, 1994 the bridge was completely destroyed by fire. Three teens were arrested for arson. In July 1998 the Illinois Department of Transportation started rebuilding the bridge to the specs of the old bridge. The new bridge was completed in September 1999. It is viewed each year by people from all over the world.
